MEET THE MAKER

Hi! I’m Anna,

a surface pattern designer, illustrator, and the creative heart behind Keti Kayo studio. For over 15 years, the world has been my home. I’ve lived everywhere from the breezy shores of the Atlantic to the vibrant landscapes of China and the remote islands of Southeast Asia. Exploring the globe isn’t just a hobby for me, it’s my way of life.

When my passport is safely tucked away, you’ll usually find me with dirt under my nails in my greenhouse or outdoor garden, happily growing my own vegetables and flowers.

I am a perpetual observer of the world around me. Whether I’m diving deep to explore ocean reefs, snapping dozens of reference photos of a single fascinating leaf, or quietly sketching with my favorite colored pencils, I am always searching for new ways to capture the magic of the outdoors.

THE STUDIO

The Story of Keti Kayo

Nature is my ultimate muse — from the tiniest sprouts in my greenhouse to the lush, wild canopy of equatorial jungles. The name of my brand actually carries a very special piece of my journey. While living on an island somewhere in the Indian Ocean, I fell in love with a beautiful local phrase: keti kayo, which translates to “Underwater Garden.” With my deep love for the ocean’s corals and seaweeds, perfectly matched by my passion for land gardening, it felt like the most fitting name for my creative studio.

Nature holds a depth and beauty that’s hard to fully capture, no matter the medium. Through my illustrations and patterns, I aim to translate just a fraction of that feeling — a sense of calm, warmth, and connection to the natural world. My goal is to bring a little of that atmosphere into everyday spaces and objects.

My deep respect for the natural world doesn’t just inspire my art — it drives how I live and work. Having seen so much of the earth’s beauty, from fragile coral reefs to thriving jungles, I am a passionate advocate for environmental protection. I firmly believe in an eco-conscious, sustainable approach to both life and design.

In my studio, I value slow, conscious creation, always choosing quality over mass production. I enjoy working with brands and art directors who share a similar approach — those who appreciate thoughtful design, attention to detail and a deep respect for nature.
